Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training

Due to a general lack of knowledge in the community about how to recognize and respond to mental health and substance use concerns, ARHP launchedMental Health First Aid Training in 2018. The evidence-based model is an 8-hour training that empowers individuals from varying ages and backgrounds to identify and properly respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use concerns. Upon completion of the course, individuals receive a three-year certificate and are fully equipped to assist friends, family members, and co-workers to access needed mental health and substance use resources.

Training Modalities

  • In-person. Training sessions are provided in-person at your place of business. The 8-hour course can be provided in one or two sessions. ARHP recommends two sessions to promote a positive learning environment for participants.
  • Virtual. Training sessions are provided in a completely virtual environment. The course begins with a two-hour, self-paced online module and is followed by a 7-hour, instructor-led training session via Zoom.
  • Blended Learning. Training includes a combination of virtual and in-person modalities. The course begins with a 2-hour, self paced online module and is followed by a 6-hour, in-person session.

NOTE: Regardless of the training modality selected, participants must complete the entirety of the course to qualify for the three-year MHFA certification.
