Lake Village, AR - The Arkansas Rural Health Partnership (ARHP), a network of twelve, non-profit hospitals located throughout Southeast Arkansas, was the recipient of the largest state grant awarded by the Arkansas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen. The $81,199 grant will continue to fund ARHP’s Access Project Pink/Reach Every Woman (APP/REW) program which offers free breast healthcare, education and outreach.
The check was presented to APP/REW Project Director Wendy Talbot and ARHP Executive Director Mellie Bridewell by Komen Mission Director Karolyn Taylor to at the 24rd annual Komen luncheon held in Little Rock on March 29.
“We are always proud of the opportunity to help the women in our state with grant funds, which are a direct result of the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters,” said Ms. Taylor.
“The recipients of these funds were chosen because their innovative, evidence-based projects aligned with one or more target priorities identified in the 2015 Komen Arkansas Community Profile, which ensures that our efforts address thegreatest needs in each community.”
Access Project Pink/Reach Every Woman provides uninsured and underinsured women and men of all ages across Southern and Central Arkansas with navigation and easy access to free clinical breast exams, screening and diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsy assistance.
“We are grateful to the Komen organization for affording us the opportunity to continue this much-needed program. By providing these essential services, we can assist hundreds of residents across our service area,” stated Talbot.
According to Talbot, one of the many benefits of the program is allowing participants to select the location for their tests, making healthcare more convenient and accessible. Those who contact the program can choose to have their mammograms and ultrasounds at seven locations across South Arkansas, including ARHP members Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett, Baptist Health Medical Center in Stuttgart, Bradley County Medical Center in Warren, Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village, Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas, Drew Memorial Health System in Monticello, and Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. In addition, free mammograms will also be available at Cross Ridge Community Hospital in Wynne.
